The Cottage is Located in The Famous Grandview Lodge Muskoka Resort
Grandview is a beautiful piece of property with many amenities and 2000 ft of waterfront, 1.5 hours from Toronto on Sparrow Lake, along the Trent Severn waterway.
The main figure in the history of Grandview Lodge Resort is Otto Roehl. He was taken with the beauty of Grandview point and built a 10 room resort in 1919. Later this was expanded to 60 rooms. He operated the lodge until 1938. Over time various owners kept the thriving Grandview Resort going. Eventually, the Resort and its various cottages changed to private ownership.
Found this older article on Grandview. It is outdated but an interesting review of Grandview.
Your cottage is called Roehl’s 9. It is a unique cottage on the Grandview Resort property in that it has views of the two sides on the Sparrow Lake point. From the front patio you look onto the “River” or the channel upon which all the boats move through on the Trent Severn Waterway. It can be a dazing site watching the traffic on a Sunday afternoon. From the side of the Roehl’s 9 Cottage you look upon the wider area of Sparrow Lake.
From your Roehl’s Cottage you have access to:
* 30 acres of land with walking trails, including 2000 ft of lake shoreline featuring sandy beaches and various docks.
* Saturday night poker night and other special events
* Large heated swimming pool
* Sandy Swimming Beaches
* Deep Water Swimming Dock
* Volleyball
* Tennis
* Horseshoes Area
* Children’s playground
* Fantastic fishing lake
* Boat Ramp and Docking
* Access to the famous Trent Severn Waterway.

Sparrow Lake is attached to the Trent–Severn Waterway. Which is a canal route that travels right through the heart of Ontario Muskoka cottage country. It was established to be used as an commercial transportation channel, however today it is maintained for recreational boating and tourism. The large all-connecting Waterway stretches across the two Great Lakes of Lake Ontario and Lake Huron. It is a delight to travel around the parts around Sparrow Lake or too sit back and watch the boats go bye.
Taking a Stroll in Downtown Gravenhurst or Getting What You Need From Orillia
Grandview Point of Sparrow Lake is located about 30 minutes from either Gravenhurst (pop. 11,640, grows in the summer) to the North on Hwy 11 or Orillia (pop. 30,586) to the South on Hwy 11. Gravenhurst is a smaller and more quaint town with a cottage country charm. While Orillia is more commercial with a wide variety of retail and services. Either town will suffice if you are looking to get away from Grandview to the “big city”.
Many Things to See and Do In The Muskoka Region
